OxiWear was selected as one of 12 medtech startup companies for the Massachusetts Medical Device Industry Council (MassMEDIC) 2021 IGNITE Cohort. The company competed against a record number of global applicants developing innovations in the surgical, wearable, diagnostic, and home health technology categories.

“We are excited to be chosen for this cohort. The program provides companies like OxiWear with medtech expertise, corporate leadership, and industry guidance as we continue to develop and prepare to launch our product,” stated Shavini Fernando, founder and CEO, OxiWear.

The IGNITE Cohort is a virtual accelerator that focuses on “identifying and nurturing medical device leaders of the future.” The organization received twice as many applicants compared to 2020 and nearly 50 percent of the companies are female led.
“It’s already a banner year for IGNITE – with a record number of applicants, double the number of corporate sponsors, significant cash and services prizes, and the most diverse and inclusive cohort to date,” said Rachel Robinson, VP MassMEDIC.According to the recent MassMEDIC announcement, the IGNITE program has assisted 38 medtech startups since 2019 and its alumni have collectively raised more than $40M in Series A, seed, and grant funding.
