OxiWear participated in the 2021 SXSW Pitch event that was held virtually from March 17-18, 2021. SXSW Pitch is the marquee event of South by Southwest® (SXSW®) Online, where leading startups from around the world showcase innovations to a panel of judges and a virtual audience. Out of more than 500 companies that applied to present at SXSW Pitch 2021, OxiWear was selected among the 16 alternates, spanning eight separate categories.According to event producers, the annual competition has connected top investors with more than 550 early-stage startup companies over the past 13 years. Eighty percent of the startups have received funding or have been acquired.“We were excited to be chosen as an alternate in the health, wearables, and well-being category this year. Every competition gets us one step closer to commercially launching our product,” stated Shavini Fernando, Founder and CEO, OxiWear. “This device will ensure accurate and reliable oxygen level monitoring 24-hours a day. It’s wearable and waterproof so our customers are not limited to when or where they can monitor their oxygen levels.” The SXSW Pitch event featured 40 companies across a variety of categories including: artificial intelligence, robotics & voice; enterprise & smart data; entertainment, gaming & content; future of work; health, wearables & wellbeing; innovative world technologies; smart cities, transportation & logistics; and social & culture. “SXSW Pitch is having an incredible year in the recruiting, and showcasing of, the best and the brightest startups from around the globe. Despite the global pandemic, the startup community has responded positively to our call for participation, and with this SXSW is able to feature an incredible class of startups that we believe will change the landscape of the technology world,” said SXSW Pitch Event Producer Chris Valentine. For more information on the event, visit: https://www.sxsw.com/awards/sxsw-pitch/#categories.
